This ‘Must Have WordPress Plugins Checklist’ is for those WordPress administrators out there who are busy developing and maintaining websites built on WordPress technology. In my own experience, I’ve found these plugins very handy and have them installed just in case. And to make it easier for you, the plugins are listed alphabetically with a short description. Disclaimer, I’m not responsible for what happens after you install and activate them as conflicts may arise with other plugins depending on your website configuration.
- Akismet. The best way in the world to protect your website from spam where comments are concerned.
- bbPress. A light weight forums, created by WordPress.
- Cookie Law Info. Useful for the UK as this is required by law.
- Enable Media Replace. Saves you deleting and uploading a media item to then have to relink.

- WordPress Backup to Dropbox. I use this to backup the database and WordPress contents if the hosting provider doesn’t do this for me automatically.
- WordPress Importer. Handy if you’re importing from a different blog system or even WordPress itself too. Don’t forget to deactivate it after you’ve finished with it.
- WP-Optimize. This super useful plugin is an admin plugin that you need to use every so often to keep your database clean by removing post revisions and spam.
- Yoast SEO. A handy plugin that helps you optimise your search engine optimisation needs.
