Hospital Visit Packing Checklist

Going into hospital as a in-patient? Use this checklist to help you get packed and ready to go, don’t forget to take a positive mindset with you too.

Clothing

• Pajamas or nightgown
• Underwear
• Socks
• Slippers
• Bathrobe / dressing gown
• Comfortable clothing (track suit, light sweater)

Toiletries

• Toiletry kit (soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, denture dish, comb, hairbrush, hairbands, nail scissors, nail file, cosmetics, nail polish remover)
• Towels and washcloths
• Shaving supplies
• Hair dryer

Documents

• Health insurance card(s)
• Pre-authorisation from your insurance if applicable
• Medical reports (e.g., x-rays, reports)
• Allergy ID / diabetes documentation
• Advance health care directive
• Medication list
• Emergency contact details

Other

• Reading material such as books and magazines
• Tablet!
• Earplugs
• Hearing aid
• Glasses
• Walking cane
• Change, coins (for the automatic dispensing machines)
• Stationery and pen
• Regular medication
